ok i got`A 97 CONVERT when i push the button for the top to go down it goes down sometimes windows go all the way down but when i put it back up the windows want go up r the top want go up i if i keep pushing the button they wanna come up and the top works windows only work on drivers side front all other only go up r down with top swith

I have the same problem. The top goes down just fine. But when putting the top back up the drivers side just clicks and the top bounces on that side. Somebody has to pull the top out a little bit then it can move back to the closed position. This is my first convertible DSM so I'm new to the drop top. Could it be snagging on something or maybe a bad motor?

Before you go thinking motors are bad or replacing them, make sure you check the shear pins. I read somewhere that there are shear pins for the gearing on each side that may break and then people get new motors for nothing, when they could have just repaired the pins...

Yep, check the pins on the motors. Also, check the floating rib, the second one back. My arms that hold it in place both snapped off, and this let that rib/beam bind with the other parts of the roof and stopped it from coming up and almost ripped the top.

I agree with the other guys when they say check your shear pins. After replacing the arms on my top It would go down with a thud but manual needed assistance going back up. Sure enough one of my shear pins broke on the passenger side. I took both motors out and replaced the pins with pieces of metal hanger and now they work like a charm. If you do a search you should find articles in reference to that fix. Actually I had it in my Favorites - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...easy-fix-convertible-top-motors-pictures.html
