Consequences of driving w/OD off

Now that my OD is shot on the tranny - I have to deal with driving w/OD off until I can fix whatever the problem is. Besides the obvious of wasting more gas this way, is there any damage I am doing to either the trans or engine by not using OD? I know there is a larger strain on the engine...how bout the trans? Are there certain speeds I should stay under?

Hopefully this problem can be fixed soon.

I do believe if i'm not mistaken that you should be ok, you have to remember alot of older cars, don't even have a OD, it's just 1,2, and 3. I don't see it as being a problem for your tranny, besides the extra rpms on the motor and the lower gas mileage

Its kinda like driving a 5 speed that doesn't have 5th gear. I would imagine that as long as you don't have peices of a gear floating around inside your tranny you should be okay, just don't go on the freeway like that. For the record I do most of my driving in my AT Talon with OD off. If you accelerate, like to pass someone, it kicks down quicker.
