Hey so I know the standard 2.3L is a 100mm crank in the 4g63 block.

Does this 100mm crank come from a 7 bolt 4g64 or a 7 bolt 4g63?

more questions to follow once this is answered...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm almost positive all stock 4g63 engines came with an 88mm crankshaft.

OK so then what block does the 2g have? Its a 7 bolt 4g63?

So you can put a 100mm 4g64 crank into a 6 bolt 4g63 OR into a 7 bolt 4g63?

i understand that.

so basically there is:

6 bolt 4g63 block with 88mm stroke stock crankshaft = 2.0L
7 bolt 4g63 block with 88mm stroke stock crankshaft = 2.0L

6 bolt 4g63 block with 100mm stroke 4g64 stock crankshaft (which is a 7bolt?) = 2.3L
7 bolt 4g63 block with 100mm stroke 4g64 stock crankshaft = 2.3L

7 bolt 4g64 block with 100mm 4g64 stock crankshaft = 2.4L

Is this correct? the 100mm 4g64 crankshaft can be placed into both 6 bolt and 7 bolt 4g63 blocks to create either a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt 2.3L?

No. Not correct.

You cannot mix 6 bolt and 7 bolt cranks and blocks.

Six bolt blocks must have six bolt cranks.
Seven bolt blocks must have seven bolt cranks.

Six bolt and seven bolt engines do not always correspong with 1G and 2G cars.

All 2G cars had 7 bolt engines. All early 1G cars had 6 bolt engines, but some later 1Gs had 7 bolt engines, still with 1G intakes.

A 100mm stroke 7 bolt crank in a 7 bolt 4G63 block makes a nominal 2.3 L stroker.

A 7 bolt crank in a 6 bolt block won't fit.
