alright so i have about 500 dollars to play with and im not sure what to buy at the moment. right now i am having my head rebuilt. my modifications include, headers and full exhaust, cold air intake, stage 1 racing clutch, and that is basically it. i was thinking about getting the afx ecu but i dont know a whole lot about them. then i was thinking that i could just get a chip. my whole issue is im not sure what brand to get or even what sort of ecu's and computer chips that is offered for the non turbo eclipse. i hear people on here talking about msns or something like that but i have no ideah what that is or even what it stands for. if someone on here could help me out that would be great thanks alot, and im open for opinions if that isnt a good ideah to spend my money on that stuff.

You can't chip our cars, the only option is to run a different standalone in it. That also depends on your plans though. There are AF/X ecu the Megasquirt ECU, and AEM i believe makes one (however i don't know anyone running one)

AF/X is usually better for staying N/T while Megasquirt-II is better for if you end up turboing your car. The AF/X is supposed to learn as you drive so there is little to no tuning necessary while the Megasquirt requires tuning.

afx is also easier to install and tune (since it is plug n play) yet ms give you a lot more options and things to work with and i believe it is cheaper. There are more upgrades you can do non-electrical side also, like intake manifold port, bigger throttle body, underdrive pulley, Camshafts, and cyclinder head P&P.

With your modifications, you dont really need that much tuning, not saying it wouldnt help, but its not really needed.

i saw this on andys auto sport and i was just wandering if anyone on here has ran with it or anything and what kind of gains you have had/noticable gains

Venom Piggy Back Programmers - Venom 400 for 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse at Andy's Auto Sport

I hear this is crap.

Ms stands for Mega squirt. I wouldnt do it if you dont want to deal with wiring.

I would do afx ecu. its just plugnplay and you cannot tune it at all. but its been proven to work well.

if you have an extra 500 I would have bought some cams while you were rebuilding your head.

i'm not 100% sure but i think you can piggy back any car, but they arnt plug and play, they are programs you can use to tune your car. Basically if you dont know what you are doing (tuning wise) i would just go the afx plug n play route, or get something else, or go to a reputable tuning shop, they normally can suggest things for you, like what they would suggest to put on your car, and then tune it for ya, and give you a better idea of prices.

As everyone else has said there arent many options when it comes to tuning. MS is your best option but will require a lot of wiring and tuning which I dont think would be a good choice for you. Just get the AFX. It will be the easiest to do and you can see some improvement from it.

Like everyone said, if you are looking for an easy route and a somewhat difference in the way the car feels go with the AF/X
