2002 WRX,
Since running a RallyX and getting the temps a little high, I have been blowing some white smoke, which remember reading can be a blown head gasket, or other source of coolant getting where it shouldnt'.
Looking at the oil it is not cloudy.
Thanks to the VFAQ on my service manual CD, and website:
http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/compression.htm
I went ahead and did a compression test.
1G Turbo, 100k miles.
1 164
2 162
3 148, 148 again on second test
4 165
I also did the wet test (see faq) with oil to seal the rings, the compression test on #3 went to 185.
So that suggests worn rings according to the FAQ.
I just need to know if that all makes sense, and if I have to worry about it short term. The car in not my daily driver. It seems to be my project car
.
