I have some Comp Cams 100200's sitting up in my room and am waiting to put them in until I figure out if I will need to be getting valve springs and retainers to go with them. Comp says that you don't really need to get springs with the cams, but I was curious what you all that have these are running as far as the rest of your valve train.
Thx.

I have 101200 and do not plan on buying valve springs and retainers for them. Many guys don't change them and run pretty hard with no problems. Our stock springs are fine for a large cam because a large cam on a turbo car is nothing compared to a large cam on an all motor car so we can get away with it.

Ok, I was wondering about that, my friend just looked at me like I was crazy when I said that I was getting cams and no springs/retainers. Thx for the info jim.

But don't be afraid to replace them. I did mine, but my head had like 150k miles on it. Also I wanted to reach higher redlines. But Jim is 100% right. You dont really need them. But if you are planning on larger upgrades later down the road, and you have the money now, it wouldn't hurt.
