sounds good. the one I am looking at is a "95 talon tsi all wheel drive, turbo, 5 speed, black, sunroof, leather interior. Only needs power steering pump, muffler, and heater motor" according to the guy. The price is right and I am not too worried about the repairs except for the heater motor. I really want a Panda but I am gonna paint it either way someday so at least this one has the leather and sunroof.

Alright, well obviously look for your basics -- leaks especially, it seems like the oil pan almost always has something leaking.

Past the obvious, look for water erosion inside as well (strut towers are very common), but the tail lights also stop sealing properly at this age, check the trunk under the carpet, see if it's got any holes or giving out. Also, if you take the rear seat out, check to see if it's molding/turning colors underneath. Often the port windows will leak and flood the back seat/floor boards (usually you can see where the path of water flowed through the dirt that's accumulated (again you can peel the carpet back to check to see if the floors are rusting too). It took me forever to figure out how the heck my floors kept getting flooded and it was so frustrating , eventually I ended up stripping out all of the interior and had my buddy spray it down hard, and all I caught was a small, seemingly insignificant drop from the port window, but resealing it fixed the major flooding going down.

Anyone know how much of a PITA a heater motor is to replace? I was looking through the forums and it showed you had to remove the dash. I might as well replace some other things while I do it if that is the case.

Ended up buying a dsm tonight, my first ever. 97 GSX with 130k on it. Settled for an automatic mostly cause I am tired of looking for 5 speed gsx or tsi under 3000 dollars. Got a decent deal on this one. Needs some body work and looks like some leaking near and around the turbo. wouldn't mind having someone in the springs that knows something take a look at it to tell me where to start the maintenance side of it. I am decent with automobile mechanics but this is the first turbo car I have ever owned. Will post some pictures tomorrow.

what shell gas station are you talking about, i just moved to the springs not to long ago, and just pick up my dsm. So im looking for ppl to hang out with, and find some meets

The shell is up north academy in the corner of the best buy parking lot. Was out there tonight around 10 pm and saw about 50 different cars. The cruise is from there to Sams Club by the Honda dealer on South Academy.

I will be out again tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up.
