Like it says. Coil pack number 4 and 2 totally black. 3 and 1 are clean. Plugs look good. Couldn't find a thread discussing this, anyone have a link? Thanks..

I'm trying to get it running "right" after water in the CAI. Been having nothing but problems :)

Cylinders 1 and 3 are fine, but cylinders 2 and 4 are totally black right? Have you done any work to the car lately? Does the engine knock while its running? Also, do a compression test to see if cylinder pressure is related...sounds to me like its electrical though. Good luck!

Hey man check your power transistor, it sits directly under the coilpack.I had almost the same problem not to long ago, if you can find a couple at the salvage yard your all good.Got mine for $2 buck Good luck!!!!!

My car is broken in so many ways, i'd be hard to pinpoint.

After water in the engine, I pulled all the related parts, cleaned repeatedly. I did get it running, but it never ran right. Compression numbers were 145 125 145 145. Not good, not horrible. It was down on power...etc, etc.

Even though I pulled the plugs 1000 times during cleaning, I just noticed the coil pack. One more thing. It seems telling to me that 1/3 are shiny and 2/4 are black. Like a specific problem, thats why I'm posting here.

The last time I started it, it "clacked" prettly loud in the head (hard to tell exactly though). Similar to lifter tick, but more intense. Steve thinks there might be water in there (displaced oil.) Then again, diagnosis on the phone/computer is just impossible.

BTW you hit 11s huh, nice.

This is a part with which I am not familiar. I'll research it..

Thanks for the info :dsm:

Yeah, I hit an 11.8 on 19's with a 1.9 60'. Could have driven it harder, but its all stock drivetrain with 130+k on it, except for the clutch and flywheel. I had a 126.7mph aslo on 24 psi. When I get bigger injectors the car should have no problem doing 130+mph...Does the car make the noise constantly? Easy way to tell if you have water in the oil is just to look under the oil cap and see if it looks milky. You can check your overflow tank as well.

Please tell me that you have a Chilton's Dsm car manual, all the info is there for our cars you just have to be willing to obtain it bro.

"I'll research it.." means I am willing to obtain it.

Archie,

I shut it off right away, but yeah for that couple seconds, it's consistant.

I'm cleaning the coil pack now, and i'll try again.

Are you going to keep running the 19s at the track?

I dont have the car anymore. I gave it to my brother almost a month ago. It was too expensive to keep (always ran 110) and I was always worried someone was going to steal it (no garage). When I ran the 11.8 I had boost problems. It was very inconsistent due to my 9 psi spring....I was almost tripling the wastegate spring value. This is Noah, correct?

Btw, my bro is going to keep running on the 19's. He may even break the 10 sec barrier on them. I was getting full boost at 5k rpms, and due to the sea level altitude he is getting it @ 4krpms. Im sure the car is faster down there. The tracks are also great down there....You dont feel like you are racing in a dirty parking lot. I cannot wait to retune the car at sea level with the new injectors. If the engine holds together, which it should, it will be close to 600 awhp....should see 130+traps

ROFL Yeah, the track is rather dirty. What a difference 3000 feet in elevation makes, thats sick.

My car is TBA. Steve thinks it's a lifter. We got it to start and run, but it sounds like "lifter-tick x 10." It's loud. We'll see. He did tell me I have ARP headstuds, which is a plus.

Let me know what happens after the re-tune, should be interesting.

Noah.
