Clutch wierdness (doesn't feel like CW)

I recently picked up a '95 GSX with 160K miles on a rebuilt engine.

Every once in a while (1 in 20 times or so) the clutch will engage about twice as early and quickly as it usually does.

I trolled the forums for a while before I bought the car so I've heard all the usual crankwalk symptoms and I'm pretty sure this isn't CW:

- There are no strange noises when the clutch is depressed
- The strange behaviour seems to have no relation to left turns

The car has an aftermarket clutch but unfortunately I don't know the brand.

Anybody heard of anything like this before?

I had somewhat the same thing on my stock clutch, after I put my act in it was much better. Like the above guy said check for leaks on the master cylinder and slave, other than that the clutch may be worn out.

It could be a warn out clutch. Or a blockage in the line.

Because of the design of the clutches on DSMs the engagement point will move away from the floor as the clutch wears. This means that if the clutch plate surface is glazed it can intermitently disengage higher on the pedal. If the seals on the master or slave were shot the engagement point would move down the pedal (closer to the floor) till it just wouldn't disengage any more.

It could still be the slave and master but doesn't seem like it the way you are describing the problem. Check under the dash (drivers side) for fluid and then inside the rubber boot on the slave.

can we blank out the word crankwalk with ********* (tired of hearing it)

first thing to check is slave/master / leaks under dash etc

i had a similar problem w/ mine too. i have a clutchmasters stage 3 on it though. i eventually broke something and found out it was not *********(CW). i was driving one day and came to a stop at a light....shifted to neutral and my clutch got stuck to the floor while i heard some weird sound. i knew i broke something but the car still went. it just grinded everytime i went into a gear. caused by the upgraded clutch putting on too much pressure, my shift fork broke. only one end was still connected to the t/o bearing. it costed around 7 bills w/ parts and labor at the dealership.

HAHHAHAHA. 7 BOLT :thumbdown

LOL..IM JUST MESSIN.

Just got a phone call from the local mitsu shop.

It's crankwalk... $4,500 estimate for a new short block. Might go 6-bolt from RRE. Bah, this bites.....

I just got my car back from Road Race Service. They installed a nice built 6 bolt for me. It was a lot of money for a 10 year old car, but I really like the car and I'm doing the full stage 2 buildup.
