I am on the stock clutch with 50k miles on the car. It's now grinding when I try to quickly shift into 5th. To prevent the grinding, I have to shift really slowly and carefully into 5th. Is this a clutch issue or does it have something to do with the tranny?
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but there is a scraping noise that comes from the tranny area when the car idles or before it reaches 3rd gear when driving. The noise goes away when I push the clutch pedal in. I've been told this noise is a result of the throwout bearing not riding cleanly on the pressure plate teeth.
