My clutch started to slip so I removed it and come to see that it is covered in oil. What can be causeing this? It is dry behind the flywheel so I dont think it is the rear main seal. Any ideas? I have a new clutch but just don't want this to happen again. Help is greatly appreciate. Their is a thread from 5 years ago about it but not much info.

Check the transmission seal, and anything on that side of the engine, such as the valve cover oil pan gasket, etc...

Whats up bro.. had the same problem.. Its the Input shaft seal on the Transmission.. Replace it and it should be all goood.. :thumb: But gotta pull the tranny apart into I gazillion pieces LOL.. I soaked my clutch disk in about 2 cans of Brake parts cleaner to insure no oil stays in.. if i had the money for a new disk at the time that would have been a better choice

There are a few things it can be. Input shaft on the transmission, transfer case output shaft seal or rear main seal. Since you ruled out the rear main seal check the input shaft and output shaft seals. Also check the bell housing inside for cracks of any kind. In any case replace the clutch disc.

Thanks for the replies, Do you guys know where I can get these seals, I can only find the seals for auto trans... are they the same?

Mitsubishi dealership, JNZtuning, etc... Any place that has OEM parts. Just give a dealership a call and they can give you the part #. If I had caps on this computer I would look it up.
