Hey everyone, my stock clutch is slipping big time and its time for a new one. Iam going with the competition clutch 2100 stage 2 clutch kit. I have basic mechanical skills, and all the necessary tools. I want to know if I can install the clutch kit myself in a weekend or so. I dont want to have to pay another $300 for a clutch install. Any tips before going through with the installation? Thanks for the help.

Yea, you'll be fine. Just take your time and follow whatever instructions you're using (VFAQ, Chilton/Haynes, shop manual, etc.)

Also, not too sure about the weekend deadline, as you will need to get your flywheel machined, and I don't know of many machine shops open Sunday (and Saturday a lot of times.) Of course, this could be very different for you, or you could have a brand new flywheel waiting to go in; just a forewarning.

Hey whats up.....Ur in Sacramento..... im about 15 minutes south in Galt.

Well, you can replace the clutch in a weekend, but how someone else said, that flywheel in gunna have to be cut down a little and that could take anywhere from a couple hours to 2 dayz depending on the machine shop.

if you are droppin in a new flywheel than yea, that clutch will go in 2 dayz or less.

just to give you an idea, i changed the clutch on my white 92 talon tsi awd in 2 hours, without a car lift, or any air tools. I reccommend that you pop your hood, sit down in a comfortable chair, and just look at your engine bay(tranny area).

By doing that, you will see exactly what you have to take off and what you dont have to take off.

LOL, now this is some good advice. :thumb: :thumb: :rocks: :rocks:

Thanks a lot everyone, I will try to find a machine shop to resurface the flywheel on a monday. I have a chilton manual for the 1g turbos, is it pretty much the same?
