Hey everyone I just bought a stage 2 competition clutch with 6 puck disc and Iam going to be doing my first clutch install this weekend. Any tips before installing the clutch? And also what type of gear oil should i use for the transmission? And do I need a ball joint seperator or any other special tools to perform this installation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the syncroshift is good stuff...that site is a good starter, heres another...
http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59658 for gsx but it is similar except transfer case part. basic tools will get the job done. a little research and studying will help a lot. a friend to help would not be a bad idea. do a rear crank seal while your in there. and while it is easy to get to...you might think about fuel filter and heater hoses. check the mounts also, especially the rear one.

Thanks for the helpful links. I finally got the clutch installed this morning with the help of my friend. The whole job took around 15 hours with our basic tools. I found the hardest part was lining up the tranny and installing the motor mounts. This was my first clutch install and I reccomend others to do it themselves if you have the time and patience. :dsm:

As stated above, BG Synchroshift works great. I changed out my clutch and flywheel back in May, and put the BG in it and shifting has never been smoother! We did not need any special tools for the install, but I do suggest that you print out or have the vfaq article ready while doing it. I printed out 2 clutch install walkthrough and also had the Chilton manual and DSM manual cd ready while doing the job, they make it alot easier. One thing that we found was that it was easier to remove the axles if you drop the a-arms down, as it provides more room to move the axle around so you can get them both out of the tranny before you drop it. That was my first clutch job and it is alot easier than it looks, it took us about 6 hours total.
