So I purchased an Southbend stage 2 PP and Kevlar clutch for my 97 Galant.

When I bolted up the Southbend kit to my ACT flywheel I noticed I needed new bolts because my previous bolts were not long enough to attach the stronger Pressure Plate.
I went ahead and got the longer bolts and got the transmission in.

I started the car and got a horrible grinding noise. After further inspection I noticed the Pressure plate was rubbing the inside of my Bellhousing :(

I haven't took everything back down yet but what do you guys suggest for a fix... I'am thinking that the act/southbend combo is the problem.

The flywheel was not stepped or surface since purchasing new form sbr...

This summer I replaced my clutch and had the same problem when trying A oem pp with a light weight flywheel and I ended up just having to go with a different pp. So I would switch the fly or pp and see if that does it.

It's a pressure plate issue. I have installed Autozone clutches before and had the same issue. Polished the inside of the bell housing. Not that there is a lot of room to begin with though. Just bought check everything is bolted down flush and then pull the transmission and check to make sure the pressure plate was installed correctly. What was the need for the upgraded clutch?

Well I original had a non turbo valeo clutch set from autozone for a 97 mits galant and then I went turbo and added a evo3 big 16g with 450ccc injectors and the clutch would slip under boost baddly 12psi/14psi....

The old disk was worn evenly but the springs were loose. Also my slave cylinder was leaking so it could have contributed to the problem.

I plan on taking the old valeo clutch set along with a the new clutch set to a machine shop and have them measure the height of the old setup and machine my flywheel with new clutch to match it.

i dont know why you would have to change your bolts to begin with. that pp and the rest of the assembly should fit oem or not... i had no problems with my stg 2 set up and it had bigger everything... i think you should just return the parts and get an a/m set up. imo
