Ok, here's the deal:

I got a new TRE tranny for my car. It's a built AWD transmission modified for a FWD car. Everything bolted up fine; it's flush with the engine block (not cocked or anything), the axles are in, slave cylinder is in and mounted properly, etc. Also, I bought a new ACT2900 pressure plate and street disc with an ACT Exact flywheel. Everything was torqued to spec, and everything seemed to be installed properly.

Here's the problem:

There's not enough clutch pedal pressure to justify a 2900. The transmission will dry shift into gear fine. When you press in the clutch, the feel of shifting doesn't change; it's still dry shifting, so the clutch isn't doing anything. There IS pressure in the pedal, and we did bleed the system repeatedly (according to the Haynes manual). When I crank the car up, the car won't go into gear no matter what I do, even if I press in the clutch.

It just seems like the clutch isn't working at all, but there is pressure and the rod in the slave cylinder seems to be moving the fork attached to the throw out bearing just fine.

If anyone has any info or ideas, they'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did'nt measure the step only b/c it's a brand new ACT Streetlite flywheel, along with the 2900lb pp and street/strip disc. The clutch fork also rests right dead center too. I just don't get it. What could we have done incorrectly? The cable adjustment we are going to try tomorrow (directions say it may be a necessary thing after replacement). But that still won't do anything for the pedal pressure. Right now that's my main concern.

Bump for matt to get an answer to fix that mess. I am sorry if you thought this was gonna be someone with an answer to your question, I wish I knew, good luck man

Matt, I used to run an AWD trans on that car also. Didn't see any gain's, but maybe you will have more luck. I think you may have missed something that has to be done when you do the AWD tranny. There is a bronze plate that goes between the trans and block up by the starter. It runs ~ 1/4 of the perimeter around the trans housing up by the starter. Without this, you will not have the proper spacing for the AWD set-up. Let me know if you have this installed or not.

Also, the shift cables will have to be adjusted. I had to adjust them going to the AWD trans and converting back to the FWD trans.

Might sound stupid, but you did put the AWD flywheel and clutch on the car?

I was going to mention that I have had friends swap out clutches for upgrades and loose pedal feel, just something to thinkabout, its not always cut a dry that the cluch will be stiffer, as long as its working as intended then its all good.

Yeah, we actually got it running this morning ;) We ended up putting two 1.0mm washers behind the pivot ball for the TOB release fork. It works like a charm now :D

Good thing to see that thing running again :thumb:
