Hey guys I am now on the hunt for a new clutch. I figure I might as well put a new flywheel in there since I have had a pita time getting the trans out. So what would you guys recommend for a replacement. Car is pretty much stock and will stay that way for the next little bit. However it will be an autocross car and pdx car all next year. So I want something that will take the abuse of the track. What would you guys recommend.

Well, there many options and opinions on this as you will see, in the DSM world, one of the standards is the ACT clutch. I personally have an ACT 2600 with a full face disc and sprung hub used with and RRE lightened flywheel. I really like this combo, I use the car mostly for autocross and a few track events car but if I decide to take it out to the drags, it will stand up to some abuse there also. I even ran a slightly used 2600 kit on a resurfaced stock flywheel for a full season and never had a problem. (budgets were tight that year :|)

For stock power levels a 2600 might be a little overkill and the pedal engagement is noticeably stiffer than the stock clutch, so that is something to consider. The stiffness is not terrible, just noticeable.

I have not tried other combos on the DSM. I am sure there are many other good choices.

For comparison though I have and SPEC stage 3 6-puck disc and an aluminum flywheel on another car, the pedal feel is like stock which is really great for a daily driver But I do not recommend the 6 puck disk, the clutch chatter can pretty annoying. I wish I would have gone with the full face disc in that car.

Anyway, good luck on the hunt… :thumb:
