I've looked around everywhere on the forums about this and still can not find a definative answer as to what happened so I'm hoping I can get some help here. First off my timing belt had snapped off so I bent a few valves. I didn't think it was much of a deal so i didn't bother checking the block since there were maybe 6 bent valves. BIG MISTAKE??:mad: maybe

anyway, I got the head rebuilt and had a shop slap on the head and put the car in timing. Well it took nothing more than id say 1 week. A total of about 1,300 miles put on her and then one day i was driving back home from visiting a ex-girlfriend that lives about an hour away. Half way home my car seemed like it was dying out of power while on the freeway. I checked my tempeture and everything was normal so i down shifted to 4th and still kept on dropping my rpm's even though id give it more gas. At that point I knew something was wrong so i let go put it in nuetral and it turned off. I turned into a rest stop and popped open the hood. Well this is when my tempeture began to raise, so I immediately ran over to see what was wrong and my top radiator hose was like 3 times its size. Within a few minutes it blew and their went my head again i figured i warped the head. Although when i called it quits and picked it up a few days later i checked everything over and found out i didn't have any oil in the car either!:cry:

Now at this point i dont know what to think. I was going crazy screaming out things that not even porn sites would allow. I was really ticked so now as ive calmed down i towed the car home and havent taken anything apart yet but after checking it out last weekend there are no holes or cracks on the block and even before that my car wouldnt smoke at all. It's completely stock besides some small bolt ons.

I was wondering if thats happened to anyone? and what does it sound like it is? I'd like to find out if it's really worth taking it apart and repairing it. I'm really going crazy and thinking about getting myself a sledgehammer! At least they can take some sweet jumps!:thumb:

Do you know if the shop drained the oil in it for any reason? Might be them to blame..Unless you leaked all the oil out. Im just if it all leaked out you will be able to tell. There would have to be oil all over the motor somwhere on the car.

That's just the thing. There was no oil anywhere in the pavement. My question is, is their any way that can possibly happen. Now i know the shop couldn't of drained the oil because it wouldn't of ran anywhere near the 1,000 mile mark. I'm going to take a good look at it this weekend but i was just a little curious as to what could of been the problem.

Weird..I have a little oil leak and it throws oil everywhere. Unless the oil pan bolt feel off. Are you getting a new motor to. Im sure your motor ###### shot..i had low oil and it blew my oil pump and it locked up and made the timing belt jump some teeth.

I think that can be a strong possiblity. the motor is locked and wont crank over at all. it did at one point turn on with knock coming out towards the head. I needed to turn it on in order to move it up on the UHAUL tow. What can i do to truly figure out what's wrong without taking the whole motor out?

I would say to try turning the crank by hand and dropping the oil pan to look for metal shavings.

okay so if i do that what does that concur? Crankwalk? maybe
For the most part im going to check up on the oil pan to see if their were any lose bolts, and take it off to see the crank itself. Hopefully their isn't any surprises!

The metal in the oil pan will tell if you spun out bearings and siezed the motor due to oil starvation. Checking the crank while the pan is off is a good place to look. Good luck and we hope for the best.

OK here's what an old mechanic friend of mine said when I bought my car:
"Son, you bought a car, u drove it 250 miles and now u killed the tranny+u don't have oil in the engine??" SO I WAS REALLY REALLY DUMB AT THAT POINT!!!
I called him at 1 AM in the morning that day I paid 5k on my GST and the tranny died on me same day after 250miles!!!! NO OIL IN THE TRANNY/OR ENGINE( OIL LEVEL WAS LOW>almost 0), beucase I couldn't find the dipstick to chk the level :) I KNOW IT SOUNDS DUMB BUT MY CAR DIDN'T HAD A DIPSTICK AND I DROVE IT LIKE THAT FOR 250miles! That was long time ago far far away in the galaxy when I was still a complete fUP and didn't give a damn abt nothing, or had a clue on what I was doing.
He tells me "you buy a car and u don't even chk the engine oil level??, you don't have no excuse and I'm happy that it broke down on you, now get out of my garage"
Well he helped me fix the car after all.
So after I spent like almost 3k just to get the car going....guess what! EVery morning I chk my fluids before I start the car!
Enought with the irelevant? stuff..
BEST BET what I DID:
-compresion test 1st;
-take the oil pan off ,and look for metal shavings like wolf20043 said;
Now if the compresion is very low it means you better start thinking abt rebuilding the engine, BUT if the compresion is ok, and you can't find any metal shavings in the oil pan...then throw in some Mobil 1 fully SYN..and have fun!
ohh...and the overheating thing..thermostat OR BAD Engine due to oil starvation!
PS:ALWAYS CHK YOUR FLUIDS AT LEAST 1/week! :) and Sorry wolf20043 I didn't copied you, I just wanted to promote your idea...think it's the best theory!
