b/c the price adds up.

$600 dsm link
$280 socketed eprom
$400 laptop that I dont have

$1280

or

$290 S-afc
$275 pocketlogger & palm

$565

I know Dsmlink is much better. And I had trouble with the decision actually.

ahh... i went over this before and learned the hard way. the dsmlink program is free.... the eprom and stuff is what ya pay for and the cable and all those goodies. thats where the $600 goes, you can get the program off there site. and a laptop can be had on ebay for as little as $50 because the program doesn't require new technology to run on, but there is a certain standard they advise people to use as in ram and processer wise, not needed.... just recommended.

buying a S-Afc and investing into stuff like that is a waste. if you plan on owning your car for awhile and plan to make it run good and you like to tune your car.... dsmlink is the only real way to get all of that for a decent price. you can only do air fuel modding with the s-afc aside from the small catches they have to go with it. just save a few more dollars and go for something that is well worth the money, not some half ass product sold by a big name.

I would think that they have a regestration process to prevent pirating their software. Like pocketlogger does.

i don't think so. and even if they did... what good is the software without the cable and the eprom?? it would only be entertaining to just d*ck around with if you couldn't put it to use, which you can't because you need a eprom!

Erik you are so wrong its almost laughable. People have gone faster with just a SAFC then you will EVER go. Hell I was doing 117 traps on pump gas with my SAFC and a hacked 1g MAS. The DSMLink while nice isn’t all that great and many people still use a SAFC in conjunction with a DSMLink. People always underestimate what a fantastic product the SAFC. But for $300 bucks you get a lot of tuning power for your dollar.

jeez, I'm about to order one of those (AFC II).... If I do, will I even be able to install the thing, or read what the screen says? I.E. would there even be instructions in existence in english (for install) and would the info on the screen all be in japanese? I really want one, but can't wait for them to let us get them in the US.

If you order it now the manual is in Japanese, but the display will read in english. I have not received my yet, but it has been ordered. I order the limited edition. Only difference as far as I know is that the display is different.
