Cheap seats Fact or Fiction

I've been reading stuff about the R-1 and DAD seats I know they are cheap and are look alikes but I've read that because they are so cheap the backs of the seats just snap when you get in a crash. I was wondering if there was any truth to this and if there was any bad points to these seats. Thanks

Don't crash.

I don't know if they're under applicable NHTSA rules or not. If they disclaim "For Off-Road or Racing Use Only" then they aren't.
