cel reads air/fuel , please help

hey i just got back from auto zone where they read my cel. it said something about the air fuel ... let me give you some bg info on my car first.

1997 gsx, i ran a 16.3 at the track, out of 2 runs thats was my best, but not the best i could do, but very close tho. i thought it should be around 15.1-15.3 for a stock gsx. now, my car blows blue smoke when it idles for a couple minutes, i dont know why, yet again i think a air fuel prob.

So, i dont know whats wrong, could a (on the way out) bad turbo contribute to the air/fuel being off, setting my cel off too?I have 117k on the stock t25 so, i think its time to go.


I dont know, my car doesnt seem like its as fast as a stock gsx should be, i dunno whats wrong, but im depressed :(.

also, is it bad to drive the car if the air/fuel ratio is off? if thats the problem? the guy at autozone told me it coud only be a sensor, but i dunno, cause my car has a rough idle and it smokes, and seems incredibly slow for a dsm. ahhh damn dsm.

Also, i work on my own car all the time, i know what im doing, im not a newb! so dont insulte me. i just dont know whats wrong this time. any help is appriciated.
 
Ok,
First things first. You need to get the actual code. That tells more than describing the reason.(error on their part) Blue smoke would be oil. An oil soaked O2 would not work properly and could be you cel cause. When my car was smoking (blue) at idle it was valve seals that needed replacing. Yes, from info I have gotten from friends that have had a turbo go out, it too, can smoke while idling. I am very concerned about a 16 second GSX. Is this a t25 turbo? I was at 14.06 on my 95 t25 with only a BOV and boost control. Is your car auto or 5spd? for reference.

im thinking its the o2 sensor. thatll kill mileage and power.

and you said its smoking, what color is it? blue would be oil from the turbo, meaning its time for a 14b or better. take off the intake and check the turbo for shaft play.

have you done the normal tune up, as in, NGK BPR7es plugs, wires, oil to synthetic and filter, fuel filter, air filter(or recharge)? cause unless youre a horrible driver, you should be hitting at least mid to low 15's.
 
i have a cone filter on there. its a 5spd. im not a newbie driver, i drifted my 240sx for the last 2 years before i got my gsx. its a t25. I have new plugs, wires, oil changed, i have the free mods done, boost restrictor removed, im running (what my boost gauge says) 14psi. But when i boost sometimes it hits 12 and stops and other times it hits 14, and sometimes the boost will decrease at wot, slowly from 14 down to about 10, and stop there, until i respool the turbo. This week im picking up a t25, as i plan on building my 6 bolt in the future, so a t25 is the solution right now. My car has always had a lag' to it since i bought it, i would lose to a stock rsx type-s .
 
hope you find your problem, but do not pick up at T25, just go ahead and get at least the 14B. the T25 is already reaching peak on ur car. Its just blowing hot air, loke most .....I better not finish that sentence :sneaky:
