So..On my home from work today my eclipse inconveniantly threw a CEL...It was a really snow/slushed and crappy day drivin' home. When i managed to get home, I looked under the hood and found a rattly/quick cluck coming from one of the pulleys, these pulleys and bearings have 177,840 miles on them and were used out of an old 95 eclipse. The cluncking is in the pulley somewhere..but would this throw a CEL??? I am going to go get the code checked because i thought CEL only deals with emissions/intake...correct me if im wrong but a pulley gone bad wont make the CEL go on would it? while sitting parked i revved it up to 3,000..free reving a car is not good but anyways, when i hit 3000 grand i heard like a huge cluck/ rattle bigger than ever on the right passenger side and now the noise from the pulley side is even louder. This is not engine knock or valvee knock, stuck my stethscope in by some metal by the pulleys and i can hear huge clucking from somewhere around there. Is there a pulley bearing gone bad? Can i get some insight....also why is my CEL on from a pulley gone bad?? Or could it jsut be a wet map sensor or something. THanks a lot....
Lastly, whta is the time estimate on replacing one of these pulleys. thanks.
