cel code 42?

i have a manual 1g 91 awd talon. i am getting a cel and i check the logger it says code 42 fuel pump relay. anybody have any experience with this any ideas what i might do. if anything thanks for your help. oh btw the car still runs and pulls strong

Maybe not related but I was getting that code when my last ECU sh!t the bed. Have you had your caps replaced yet. I got random stalling and fishy smell before it finally finished itself off. Took like 6 monthes to die.

Every time I've seen someone get a 42 it was due to leaking caps. It's possible to get it if something happens to the wire on ECU pin 13 to the fuel pump power wire from the MPI relay. Somehow that wire seems to be missing from the FSM. It's documented in the 1G Tech manual. The code gets thrown when the ECU has turned the fuel pump on but doesn't see 12v on pin 13 (Fuel Pump Sense)

so i should check that wire to see if its getting 12vs. if not try one of my other ecus? thanks for the help guys.
