CD Player help

Hi, I wrecked my car. YAY.

I got another, and I salvaged my CD player thank god, but it is not working. there is no visual defects on it, nothing. this is the CD player, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4039_38309,00.html

I hooked it up to a battery and it is getting no power at all, any any ANY help is appreciated. Thank you.

how did you hook it up to a battery???

all car stereos have a constant power that routes directly to the battery and a secondary power line that routes through the ignition so that the stereo will turn off when the car is off. The ignition line is usually the red wire and the constant is yellow or orange most of the time. Did you check the fuse?? A lot of higher end stereos will have their own separate fuse built in somwhere on the back with a cover that screws off.

there is a yellow and black.. i took the yellow to pos, and black to neg.. checked all fuses and everything, still nothing.. any suggestions?

yes...there is another wire that needs power. Look on the schematic that came with the stereo and find the ignition wire..that needs to have power as well...otherwise the stereo thinks that the car is off.

for pioneers u have to hook up the RED wire that says +12v and it should come on

yes....that's what i was trying to tell him. There's a red (12V power) wire as well. You can't just hook up the constant and have the stereo turn on
