Catchcan pudding

Today I decided to dump out my catchcan. It is connected to my crank case vent and to where the pcv valve once was.

I was expecting to dump out a small puddle of oil, but to my surprise it was more of a peanut butter colored pudding. ([homer] mmmm peanut butter pudding aaaagghh[/homer].) It had a very thick consistency, but smelled of oil.

What is this mystery substance? Where is it coming from?

its probably oil, umm i hope. It shouldnt be alot and it shouldnt be thick since its really just light sprays of oil. Thats why just that little catch can is fine.
