I have no catalytic converter in my car and I'm aware that I obviously can't pass smog with no cat. I was wondering where I can buy a catalytic converter. If I put my cat back on and 2 1/4 inch piping, would I most likely most smog?

So where can I get a cat?

ummm, any place that handles exhuast would be a good start. They are easy ot find, or if you want to be cheap go to the local junk yard and rape one off a donor car.

just get a shell from a CAT cut it in half and bolt it together over your test pipe that way it looks like you have a CAT, or just buy a high flow CAT and hollow it out, i mean i live on the east coast so we dont have to worry about any of that crap but i dont know how much california really checks when doing emissions.

You basically have two choices. You can buy a cat that has flanges welded on already and it ready to go, or you can get a universial cat and have flanges welded on. Depending on how cheap you can get the welding done that is probably the cheapest route. I reccomend a CatCo catalytic converter, I do not know what other people like but I have seen a few stories of the Random Tech. cats failing on other forums.

i have a hollowed out cat right now and it sounds exactly like that... hollow. I got used to it, but at like 4 grand to 5 and a half it sounds kinda hollow in a funny soundin way. But not all the time. but i mean itll be different for everycar depending on your current mods.

i think i may be cheaper to just go to the junk yard if you only doing it for temporary reasons to get your car to pass the smog test. But if your buying one that your staying with then definitly get a new one because used ones can be broken up inside and detriment air flow greatly. But i mean if it did and your using it temporarily then just take it off after the testing.

If your just trying to pass smog, forget getting a high flow. I would say junkyard. If you you can't find one there, pick up a universal for cheap and have it welded on. Its actually not that expensive.
