Cat Removal

OK so I've got a 95 GS right now and I love it to death...it's my baby but I want something newer and with lower miles. I'm considering a 03-05 GTS and superhcharging it! HP is like coke...you get hooked quick and what I want to know is NY requires a dumb emissions test for inspection so cat removal is gonna be a problem...I've seen things called O2 simulators on certain sights and all it really says is that it'll trick your check engine light into not going off....will it fool the computer for my inspection also? Sorry for such a pathetic question but this is the only way I know of to get a definitive answer...Thanks for all replies.

Just slap a high flow cat on and you are set.

Most (if not all) catalytic converters from the factory are of the honeycomb design, which is the same design used by high-flow catalytic converters. The idea that a catalytic converter is an exhaust restriction stems from the early bead type converters that haven't been used since the 70's and early 80's.

Stay green, you're not going to be freeing up that much horsepower from pulling your catalytic converter.

even the honeycomb cats are very restrictive!.. unless they do a visual inspection then it shouldnt be a problem.. i went in not to long ago and they just plug into the OBD.. i have a full "3inch" N1 system with no cat and i didnt have a problem with deq

Most likely they'll test your tailpipe emissions which will be a problem wihout a cat. You can just spend a bit more for a high flow cat, pass emissions and have smililar gains to a test pipe.

And why call emissions testing 'dumb?" It's one of the biggest reasons most of us can even breath the air, especially in a place like New York. Go spend some time in a city like Bangkok and see what lacks of enforced emissions standards do to the air quality.
