First off,I tried searching this and didn't find anything that can help me or anything I understood enough to help me. Second,if this is in the wrong please, sorry.

With that said,I'm hoping someone could help me clear up what I'm looking for. I'm getting my block worked on at my machinst's. I told him I don't have a crank for my 2.3L build yet but I'm looking. He said he could actually order one for me if I give him the casting number I'm looking for. What am I looking to give him. I'm still new to some technical aspects,so I have no Idea what he's reffering to as the crank casting number for the crank. I have a 2.0 block I'm converting to a 2.3,so that's where most of the confusion is coming from. I can't just get any 2.4 crank? or does it have to have a specific casting number? Or are the just all the same. Sorry again if this seems like a stupid question to some of you, just thought this site would be the best place to look

You need to pick a machinist that has built a 4g63 before. You need any 4g64 2.4L crank from 93-2005. Should be very easy to find one.

He's done work on the engines before. He hasn't built a 2.3 stroker but does great machining. When he asked about the crank I told him I was looking for one that's available in a bunch of different vehicles because it's the same engine, just different from mine. I think that's why maybe he asked for the casting number? Because I was maybe making things sound a little complicated. Thanks for the response though,I was just more looking to confirm that I CAN use any 2.4 crank and not one out of one specific vehicle

as long as its from a 7 bolt. you can even use a 4g69 crank
