What causes a CAS to go bad? It worked fine before I rebuilt the motor, now nothing.

Do you have to remove the timing belt to install?

Can anyone find me installation instructions?

Well I'm pretty sure that on a 1g its on the head, and uses the camshafts to tell the position of the crank(assuming that your timing is correct). I would go verify this but I'm in West Palm beach :sneaky:

As for going bad, thats something that just happens. Usually the wires corrode or it fails somehow.

On your 2g, it is behind the intake cam gear.

I would suspect wiring connections before I would suspect the sensor itself. Just to make sure, test the resistance on it to make sure it is in working order before you go pullin everything off.

Sorry I didn't mention it was a 2g. How do you check resistance on the CAS? I did check for power which it does have with key on. Can you get a signal cranking? (The car won't start due to no fire on 1 and 4). I replaced the coil and power transistor but I couldn't check the ECM at the transistor pins as it has to be done with engine running. Thanks for the help.
