days....id say more like hours hahahahahha whoever decided that was going to be a good idea and looks cool needs to be slashed in the throat not the tires LOL
 
Yeah there should be a severe punishment for such stupididty - they royally messed up that impala
 
I am a firm believer in to each his own but some of those are def not my cup of tea LOL. I was once a victim of the "Rice" but hey rock what you like!
 

Says the engines weaker internals that were not meant to handle the added forced induction.. not for long term anyway.

I'm not even sure that is a N/T engine, I was just going by how the air intake was setup
 
IIRC the major difference between the 4g63t and the 4g63 shortblock is oil squirters. There is also a difference in cam timing.

As far as the oil squirters they are arguably unnecessary with aftermarket pistons and potentially detrimental which could make the 4g63 block superior to the 4g63t block for high hp applications.

Please highlight which internals you think are weaker so that we're all on the same page.
 
All the 4G Non Turbo Internals are weaker than Turbo. However what Trav says is not entirely correct. A Non Turbo motor CAN and WILL hold up to around 10psi safely. ITs been done hundreds of times by everyone and their grandmother's dog. And infact, a Non Turbo Block at stock boost levels vs a turbo block at stock boost levels, the non turbo block will output more power because the higher compression ratio. I'm sure you can crank the boost a little more but your asking for trouble then. Plus no two motors are identical.

Its always best to have supporting mods for any mod. IE Boost: Forged Internals
 
Weaker pistons and thinner rings, the compression is too high as well (9.0:1). If you're talking about a rebuild with the N/T block, that's different, that will work because you can replace the pistons and set the compression correctly (7.8:1).

You see I'm talking about guys who don't do anything to the N/T motor, they go out and grab the turbo, intercooler, injectors, ecu, etc. from a turbo 4g63 motor and throw it on their 2.0 N/T... this will inevitably lead to a rebuild.
 
Why is everyone obsessed with low compression pistons? I'm going 9.5:1 on a 2.4L block and running 30 lbs of boost. The reason factory boosted cars come with lower compression pistons is so you can run boost without needing jet fuel. Add a methanol kit and voila, higher compression pistons, more torque, same chance of blowing your motor.
