So, as I was driving from my father's house. My car start to jerk alot and then slow down alot. I turn off the car and turned it on and it went about another 2 blocks but really slow and stop altogether. I pop the hood and check for any signs but none. I tried once more in drive and reverse and the lower gears as well but it did not budge one bit at all just rev up all the time. My guess is the tranny went south. Now is that correct or can I test something out to see if it's something else. If it's the tranny, how much will it be to replace or rebuild. And can someone point me the right direction?

First thing check fluid level in trans and make sure the fluid looks good. I have ran an auto trans out of fluid before and it did the exact same thing, filled up with fluid and ran just fine. also could be power converter going out. first things first, check level and fill as needed and post your progress.

The closest to me is Strauss. What brand of oil should I get?

The car was low on motor oil and tranny fluid. I put both in and it was doing fine. Until I drive a few blocks and it starts acting up again. I look under the hood and I notice there are two tubes by the intake that are loose. I was able to put one in but not the other. I can't find where it goes connected to. Can someone ### show me a diagram where it goes. The tube originates right below the intake and ends up near the radiator fans.

a picture is worth a thousand words, but an underhood picture of a dsm is worth ten thousand!

If your talking about me posting a picture I am in the street and am posting from my phone so I have no idea how to do it on my phone

sounds to me like its the vacuum pipes for the transmission....

what do they look like? small pipes with flare fittings on them?

I have no idea what is a flare fitting but I took some pictures of it. The best way for me to explain is the tube is is skinning about a foot long and the tip that is loose has insulation about 4 inches of it. If I can have someone that will let me email the pictures and post them up. I will really appreciate it.
Edit: the tube originate from directly below the intake right near the metal of the car.

What does that tube I hold attaches to?

Can anyone help me? The car turns on fine but hesitate to move at all. It just sits there and revs up in both drive and reverse.

I'm having my car inspected by Aamco for transmission failure. It free so what the heck. Now my question is I'm already looking into rebuilding it but, my problem is I don't have the time or place to do it at the time. So, should I have them rebuild it or take it somewhere else. I'm in Bronx, N.Y. by the way.

hahaha!! Sorry man. That made my night...

I agree on EGR valve hose. This made my old camry hesitate during acceleration. I cleaned egr valve, found hose was dry rotted, and replaced and didn't have issue after that. GL Let us know what it was.

To answer question about rebuild, shop around first and don't be afraid to tell them what you are willing to pay after they quote you, or use the "the shop down the road will do it for $100 less" line. See what happens. Worst comes to worst you go back to a shop you already went to.

Seriously doubt it. My problem was EGR valve, but gave me problems during mid-range acceleration. It would hesitate as if there was something blocking gas flow...

Anyways, your problem sounds like it lies in the drivetrain... Maybe CV joint going out? Tranny going out? (I don't think so)

Does it feel like there is anything seized up? (locking, or causing some sort of friction that shouldn't be there?. Try and push her in neutral and see, or lift on a jack and move wheels freely. Especially front wheels... Then try in gear and see if you hear anything noticiably wrong. Let us know what is going on. I really hope you are no longer on side of highway.

I'll be here till about 11...

Car can easily be move in neutral by myself alone. When I let the car sit over night. And turn it on the next day it will move about one block and then it will slowly stop.

does it feel like there is something happening that shouldn't? Like extra stress in certain spot that shouldn't be there? Also, is this in any gear? When it starts slowing down?

The car feels really loose too loose at that. Usually when I used to rev it a little to warm up the car the engine trembles but now when you press down in drive or reverse, I don't feel the car tremble at all like the engine is just floating revving up. (only way to describe it) but once I let the gas pedal go the engine starts to tremble like any normal conditions. Also, I have a slightly bad front motor mount so I used to feel the car jerk a little when put into reverse from drive and vice versa but now there is no jerk at all really weird.

I had the car inspected today and it is the transmission. They are going to call me back and let me know exactly.

What is around the average cost for a rebuild of the transmission from Aamco, or anybody in general with parts and labor?

750-1500... Factor in parts (buy your own!!!) type of tranny, what you're plans for future upgrades are (might as well replace clutch and cables) Aamco... not a clue. these are quotes I've received from various places in various towns... NYC is probably gonna be expensive...
