So I live in Arizona, and its 112+ degrees here all week especially around 3 p.m. when this always happens.... Anyway I will drive for about 10-20 minutes home from work. The 10-20 minute part is how much boosting I do. After those minutes the car will just fall FLAT on its face. Everything mechanically checks out fine, I think... Not burning oil so and the turbo had no shaftplay, even though the turbo wouldn't likely cause an instant 0 boost condition...
So anyways im stuck driving a x amount of miles home everday in a crippled car. Heres some interesting stats however. My coolant temp hovers between 230-236 after about 20 minutes of driving in this heat. Its bad, but not dangerous. I have my light set for 236 and ill will sometimes flash when sitting at a light (heatsoak). The part that interest me the most is that my INTAKE TEMP is between 150-160, and thats pretty f***** high if you ask me. Does dsmlink or the cars programming have something that causes fuel cut with anything over 100% VE (BOOST) when intake temps are dangerously high like that?
Heres what it feels like. The car has all its power and boost for the first 10-20 minutes. Then it always happens after you let off the throttle while boosting the car just bogs down. And after that is the boost gauge needle even TOUCHES 0 the car will just cut fuel and it feels almost as if your slowing down for a light. Now if you feather the throttle in vacuum the car will accelerate slowling but WOT is a no go...
Im seriously stumped as hell. Im pretty sure its computer related but not entirely sure, thats why its in Bolt On. (More viewers also
).
**** 3 interesting facts.******
- after I let the car cool down completely (5 hours) a cel code popped up (p0110) Air Intake Temp Malfunction. So I just reset the code in link. Hasnt popped back up since.... strange....
- also I drove through a big "Haboob" as they call it. A big dust storm. Could that have plugged the fins in my intercooler dramatically decreasing its performance. I never herd of this but who knows....
-yesterday I was driving in this no boost condition and the car just turned off.... Car was only at 233 degrees so it didn't overheat, so im not entirely sure. After about 5 minutes it started back up and I made it home.
-Finally when I drive at night or in the morning when its like 90 this doesnt happen. So it seems temperature related. HELP!!!! haha
-AND PLEASE DO NOT SAY YOU SHOULDN'T have driven it home under those conditions. I know the limitations of my car, and sure 150-160 is high for intake temps and 236 is high for coolant temps, but im pretty sure the heat won't melt my rings etc.... The only plausible scenario is that I somehow hit 20 psi with 160 degree intake temp and knock my ass to space, and my car...
