ok so the car is a 92 eclipse 1.8L it will go into every gear but first and reverse without grinding but if i try to go into first it grinds and eventually slips in. reverse isnt as bad but does it too. ive bleed the system but it still has the same problem. the pedal isnt as tight when i push it down as my talon which has the same motor and everything. any ideas? ive got plenty of spare parts to replace if needed. also part of my cv shaft had broke inside the transmission is there any way to get the broken piece out? its inside the transmission somewhere and every once in awhile i can hear it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that piece has gone around and done some damage if it is possible for it to go inside the tranny.

If you have bled it and it only does it those gears, I say there's some damage in there somewhere.

pull the tranny and pull the end case. take everything out and have a look. may end up needing to replace the gears in there.

The end case comes off just by removing bolts and it's super easy. You might seem something odd by just looking at it, just make sure nothing falls in it. Other than that it involves taking it apart. I couldn't find any good threads with a quick search. Good luck and keep us posted if you find something.

im going to go have someone look at it tonight and if he cant figure it out ill have to tear it apart i guess. it will be a good learning experience. what should i seal it back together with if i do tear it apart? ive always got two more parts cars if i need to replace the tranny

could be a number of things:

air still in the system
pressure plate broken
bent release bearing fork
bent slave cylinder rod
worn master cylinder
worn slave cylinder
trans took a shit.

and for the cv axle stuck in trans, complete disassembly will be required, or if you can fish it out of there with a pair of angled needle nose pliers.

This stuff seems to be good, but expensive.

I think you can just use silicone, I don't remember what I used on mine. I didn't actually do it myself.

Sounds like it could be a bent fork, or pressure plate as stated above. Tear her down and invest in a hanes or chilton manual if you don't have one. Its a learning experience, so just take your time, it's relatively simple.

so it seems like a common issue then. Like on my talon I pretty much have to go from second to first so it slips in nice. Doesnt bother me at all though.

idk about burnouts i bought it from a 16 year old ### mom and dad got tired of putting it in the shop. ive got two other transmissions so ill just put on in and use the other one to learn how to rebuild a transmission

well i took the risk of driving it to work last night and it got there fine but on the way home i made it like maybe two miles away from work and the transmission decided to lock up. fun times luckily i got it to the house and i will be replacing t he tranny this weekend

Before something was going wrong, now something WENT wrong. Get it fixed and let us know what you find when you take it off and tear it apart.

ok so ive got it all ripped apart and found the bellhousing had somehow managed to break and there was a huge hole in it (ill take pictures tomorrow) and the brand new pressure plate was toast thanks to the pieces banging around, but the new clutch was still good and it also has a new flywheel. ive got the new transmission in place but not slid on the new clutch yet its just kind of sitting there on my jack. hopefully ill get it all back together tomorrow

ok so as of now my car is sitting outside on jack stands with the transmission all the way in. ive just got to fill it with gear oil and put my cv shafts back in and it will be ready to go. the only hold up is ive been working non stop 10 hour days and by the time ive left for work till i get home is anywhere from 12 to 13 hours so when i get home there isnt really any time for working on my own stuff. maybe i can get to it saturday night the only night this week i dont have to work
