I started driving yesterday and every gear i'd shift it would like jerk you into. Then it got worse, when you'd try to pull out you'd be moving forward then it would be like hitting a brick wall jerk, the RPM would drop then go back up real fast.

The stock turbo gauge in the car was reading dead FLAT. Like it totally wasn't reading at all.

The car ran fine earlier.. then I let it sit, started it up and bam.

The idle does fluctuate by itself. I started it just now after swapping out the MAF with an older one and it was increasing idle all by itself then stopping.

I have a 97 TSI AWD with modified intercooler pipes, boost controller, and air intake.

My idle isn't loppy all over the place though its consistent when it warms up. But when you start to gas it it moves forward going going then JERK.

Check engine light still on.

those codes are associated with the MAS. Did you recently remove the intake pipe? Hacked MAS? Make sure the MAS is plugged in. Good luck.

Here's a little update for you..

I changed the MAS with another one and the problem didn't go away. Check engine light still on. So I unplugged the battery for about 20 mins and plugged it back in.. started the car up, no check engine light, no strange idle surges no nothing.

My idle is lopey though, so i'm positive I have a leak in the intercooler pipes but I really didn't use good connectors on them and i'm pretty sure that is the problem.

I'm going to switch the MAS back to my 97 one since its in better condition, change a few couplers with some better ones (off to slowboy to spend $600 on one coupler) and then reset the ECU again and try again.

Question for you Oldman

I got white smoke coming out the exhaust and a bunch of liquid shit that looks like oil coming out. I don't know if its oil or not, but it looks like it.

There's also alot of black shit in the exhaust itself. Looks like carbon.

Any ideas?

Any ideas how much $ that would cost to fix?

At one point you must have had the mas unplugged with the key on "on" position causing the CELs to come on, resetting it got rid of it. A boost leak test must be followed up even after you change the coupler as they are not the only thing that leaks. Good luck.

I would suggest doing a boost leak to see where/what couplers are leaking. This might save time chasing your tail. Why not pickup the couplers at NAPA and save yourself some money?

I would start with a visual inspection of the turbo for shaft play as well as oil in the licp, boost leak test and compression test. This show point you in the right direction.
