Car Starting odd

Well latly when my car starts it really struggles or it grinds. Or half the time it will start just great. Some kid who didnt know much about cars told me i need a new starter. Which I think he might be right.

Any suggestions?

I would say it is the starter as well. Basically when you start it just sound like it is still spinning and trying to start when it is already started, correct.? If so then it is going to be the starter, more than likely. If you have a basic knowledge of cars then you can do it your self.
