I'm considering buying a 93 talon from my buddy.
It has 63k original miles, non turbo and auto for $1200.
either way I know its a good deal but the issues are just an exhaust leak and timing belt is looking worn and sometimes when started in the morning it'll fire up then die. And then sometimes when put into reverse or drive it'll stall. not only when its cold.

Any ideas? Just trying to get a feel for what I'd be looking at

Anyone?

Low on trans fluid?
Torque converter has loose bolts/ is bad?

Maybe it's causing the whole drivetrain to lock up, god forbid... :(
Maybe a bad MAF or a bad VAC leak actually, it's possible it will cause it to idle fine but die under a load.

Maybe a fuel pump issue as well? Not getting enough pressure to keep the car running under load.

Just some ideas, bud.

My main worry is that it's something with the trans/converter.

Anything else, I'm fine with tracking down the issue. It wouldn't bother me if I wouldn't have to drive it 80+ miles a day for my work :/

Concerning the stalling in reverse, with an A/T, I had this problem too. Strangely, it only happened in reverse, which still baffles me, yet my problem had been a combination of three maintenance related parts being fixed. For me, my fuel injector seals leaked slightly, my OEM fuel pressure regulator (FPS) functioned improperly due to a slice in the vacuum hose, and my idle speed control motor (ISC) needed replacing. After replacing these parts, no more stalling in reverse. Your situation may differ, but this had been my experience.
