OK, so my baby puts down 370whp, has a gt35 with a 3" exhaust, its been two months since the cars been tuned, and now if i sit at idle for over 2 minutes, when i drive off, the car gives a nice cloud of smoke. Any idea why??

Does it smoke any other time? Are you losing coolant? Are you mixing coolant and oil? How is your compression? What does the smoke smell like? Where is the smoke coming from?
We need more information to help you.

it's actually coming from the exhaust, its a dark grayish smoke, and it only happens if i idle too long, not while im driving at all.

it also isn't leaking anywhere, i just had the valves replaced due to bending one, i had turbotrix do it about 1200 miles ago.

your probably running rich at idle....

white smoke = coolant
blue smoke = oil
dark gray smoke= excessive fuel

There are some exceptions, but this is the norm

sounds like valve guide seals. If it doesnt smoke when driving, then when you sit still for a min and take off crop dusting, it is probably the valve guide seals.

well, i was thinking of running the car on wednesday this week, it also has 10% leak in one of the cylinders, it's a stock jdm 4g63t block and i was going to run 22 psi for maybe 3 runs because that's what it was tuned to, and not launch too hard because i wanna be able to drive the car home, im thinking of buying a built block soon anyway, but do you think the 10% leak is something to worry about???? enough to not run the car???

10% leakage on a stock motor is not bad.

my $$ is on the valve seals.had same problem.borrowed the on car tool from local tuner shop and replaced all the seals in 4 hrs.never smoked after that.:thumb:

the car is actually starting to backfire now, maybe its just time to get it tuned again..
well im putting in some hks 272's next week, and retuning it on monday, so maybe ill do that, and see if it runs any better, im just hoping it was just in need of a tune
