Car running rich? falling on its face on low RPMs

I just bought a new Talon TSi. and i ive had alot of problems so far. it sat for 2 years before i bought it. it was running on 2 cylinder before i took the fuel rail off and blew it out. now its running on all 4. but i have a problem where its still missing with new plugs, and plug wires. when i go to drive it. its really low on power and struggles without boost. but as soon as it starts boosting it clears out and puts me in my seat..ive tried messing with the timing and it helped retarding it. but the car is still falling on its face.. i don't know alot about these cars yet..

any ideas?

I would do/check all the maintaince on it and do a boost leak test.
whats the fuel like in the tank?

i put 8 gallons of premium in it the day i got it. but the owner i got it from ran it dry before it sat.

DSM are notorious for failing because of poor maintanece.

We beat out cars so much, they fail when they sit for a while.

I would do the routine maintenance schedule for your dsm. This what I follow http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/239375-maintenance-schedule.html
You are going to probably replace a ton of items, at least up the the 60k mile marker. Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, wire, oil pump, oil change, pvc valve, air filter, tranny fluid, coolant flush, etc.

Can you car keep idle? Check for vacuum leaks. Get a aftermarket boost gauge, and check for you vacuum, it should be around 21-22.

Also check you bliss screw, recently, I had idle issues before and after boosting, I figured that when I boosted the pressure moved the screw, raising the idle.

also do yourself a favor and a repair manual for the car. Its good to have a visual before you begin taking things apart and out of the car.

change your fuel filters the one in the engine bay and the sock on the fuel pump sounds like its dirty
was it ran with the fuel level realy low?

Today ill certainly do as much as i can. i was wondering if anybody else had a problem moving there cam timing senor? bc mine is really still and i have to tap it with the bott of a screw driver to move it.

And when i first start it up. i have to help it keep an idle. but after it warms up it sits at about 900-950 RPMs.

i have a feeling its loading up on its self bc when i give it gas from idle it will stummble and bog up the RPMs. ill try to get a video on here if i can. its hard to explain it .

But thanx again guys for the help so far. like i said i don't know alot about these cars yet. (Goin to buy a car Manuel today)

if its a 1g also check the ecu mine fried and cause the car to run super rich

What would be the best way to test the ECU?

the "best way" is to test each component of the ecu and continue down the line. You need to have an understanding of the ECU and how to test it. Its a real pain in the but if you have no clue what you are doing, plus you run the risk of ruining you ecu.

See if you can find a non-eprom ecu that is in working condition, swap it in, get your other ecu tested, DSMchips, Ecmlink etc. You will have two ecu but you can sell one or even save one just incase an ecu fails. Thats what I did and it actually came in handy when my ecu failed and I had to go back to stock.

i agree with what's already been said. take care of basic maintenance first. have you done a compression test?

It sounds like a knock in the video, but its an exhaust leak, and squeaky alternator belt.


and it was warm. the stock temp gauge doesn't work.
