Calgary,
Hey what's up,
There is alot of rattling and rapid squeeking coming from my engine when idoling. (timing belt area i think) The car runs ok but it just sounds like a POS. The idol fluctuates a little, and it seems to have lost a little power as well. I've had the car for 9 months and it sounded really clean and smooth back then, now it sounds like an old beater with a sick exhaust.
I've only done reqular maintenance on it. What could be wrong? should I just get a tune up and shutup? Any advice would be awsome, I'm not a mechanic I just read alot.

Thanks for your time people.

its probably a belt from the way things sound. start your car cold and let it run for about a minute. turn the car off and feel all the belts. if one is noticeably hotter than the others its most likely the culprit. if you get nothing repost with more info.

Ok awsome, I'll try that at lunch. Thanks.

I tried what you said, and I guess the belt that is immediatly visible is the hottest. I'm sorry I dont know what this belt is I'm not a mechanic but it is the top belt beside the block. Actually both of the visible belts were a little hot. Is this normal?

If you get squealing on startup it's usually the alternator belt. Always use the best belts you can get as it's a pain to change them. I would check all belts, tighten them and see what happens. The PS belt will challenge you as it's a pain to adjust but it gives less problems than the alternator belt. Good Luck

Sounds good, I'll do that, see what happens. Thanks very much for the advice.
