So, I tried looking for help a few months ago, however didnt get much help.
The problem is this.
I drove my car accross town, about a 10 minute drive. Went inside and went back to the car and it wouldnt start. Would just click like the battery was dead. My first through was jump it but then i looked down and all the dash lights were on and the radio was going.
The car would click once and the lights would dim.
I looked around in the engine bay for anything that looks out of place, however I found nothing. I was parked on a hill so i rolled and dropped the clutch car started right up and ran fine.
I drove it home and got out looked for anything funny, turned it off tried to start it, again nothing.
So to me the fact that it started up by dropping the clutch and ran means that it has to be some electrical problem.
I have a 92 tsi 5speed. I spent a good 3-4 days looking at it with no success.
I bought a new starter, I didnt even have the old one checked. I just hoped that it was the problem. The starter looked like it was the original anyways. Either way, the starter didnt help anything.
I charged the battery tried nothing. I then pulled the starter out of the car and tested it, hooked up wires to the starter from the battery worked fine. So then i though it was the wires. took the actual wires that hooked up to the starter and hooked them up to it, and set the starter on the top on the intake manifold. turned the key and watched it kick out and start.
I put it back in place and it would just click once.
i then tried running a jumper wire from the battery to the starter, i dont think it was a thick enough wire, but I swear I hear it kick out and start spinning but the car didnt start.
I have not touched the car in a month or 2, i just finished up the last of this semester and have to move by the end of this month, so I have to get working on the car. If anyone can give me pointers or hints where to look.
Also, i am thinking about just replacing the wires that run from the battery to the starter but where would I get replacements.
I dont have much money to spend right now and really need to get my car up and running
