car idling at 3500rpm !!!

Your ISC Motor could be shot. My friend's GVR-4 was idling at 4Gs! We took it to Mitsu, the ISC was shot, replaced it, idles at 1500 now. Also, your throttle plate could be stuck open. My car was idling at 2Gs because the plate wasn't closing all the way. Don't know if the sticking plate can make it go up to 3500, though.

this is what my car does when its been driven around, how did you get your throttlebody plate to stop sticking?

for the guy with the throttle plate sticking..... I have heard of some ppl having to just adjust the throttle cable with a little more slack, that when the engine bay gets warm the cable tightens up and holds it open a bit. might want to start there first.

haha thats funny. I've been driving my car for a whole year like that already. And I'm finally getting myself to finally fix it.

Any increased air flow to the engine will make it idle higher. If you are idling at 3500 and not surging then you have a bad ECU or your idle switch isn't making contact. If the ECU knows it is in idle and not rolling then it will cut fuel above about 1600 RPMs. Hence why you get surge as the engine speeds up then get fuel cut then speeds up again...over and over.

So to make a long story short 3500 with no surge sounds like a mis adjusted TP or just a sticky one.

I gave my throttle cable a little slack and used WD-40 on every moving part of the throttle body, fixed the problem :)

i've got this same problem i'll have to give it a shot in the morning, i've got a bonus of ide surge to deal with too tho :/

Try closing the throttle plate by hand and see if it slows down. If it's sticky, you should still be able to close it by hand.

If it is indeed just sticky, do it right and use carb cleaner for the inside. It doesnt leave residue like WD-40. You can find this at any auto parts store (or probably even WalMart).
