Ok guys... my 1990 tsi awd seems like it is really slow in first gear, almost like a granny gear. I feel like my car does not build boost in first gear, but as soon as i shift to second gear im building boost/flying instantly. The power just increases for every gear I step up. The car has a bigger turbo, I would say a big 16g turbo, it's some sort of tdo5h variant that is twin scrolled so I know its not a 14b. I dont know maybe its just a common thing and must expect more out of first. The car is very fast and has a lot of power but at the same time not happy with first gear.

Twin Scrolled? I wouldn't be so sure of that. There is no turbo that bolts to a factory dsm manifold that is a twin scroll turbocharger.

Now, your car (theoretically) could have some Evo variant of a twin scroll turbo, but I highly doubt it.

FYI, a 14b is also a TD05H turbo. This is just a reference to the turbine wheel.

Your first mod should always be a boost gauge. I don't see one in your profile. If you aren't sure if your making boost in first gear, that would be a good place to look.

bigger the turbo the less you will feel it in first gear unless you are launching it with anti lag.

Just sounds like not enough load to spool it is all.. My car will hit 13psi in first 19 in second and 22psi in 3rd. 1st feels weak unless i 2 step and build boost.
