I cant get the cv shafts removed from a 98 fwd n/t. I got the ball joint removed with a pickle foot but can't get the cv out.I'm thinking about heating it up but I dont want to damage the tranny.Any help would be great.:banghead:

I would advise you stay away from heat. I can't see why you would really need it. Are you talking removing from the hub or the splined shaft from the transaxle itself? The axle should move in and out of the trans about 1/4" and then act as if its bound up. It should have a clip on the end of the inner shaft and you will have to push and pull on it and wiggle it around till it just pops out. Hope this helps. Oh and it's a pickle fork

*fork* sorry misspelled.I;m trying to drop the tranny so i have to remove the cv from the tranny. I will work the shaft.

You need two guys. Have one guy use a pry bar and pry the end of the shaft and have the other guy pull on it, making sure to keep it as level as possible while pulling on it. This is the easiest way I'v found to get the cv shafts out.

One of these will be your best friend in this scenario.

Is the cv splines stuck on the wheel hub?
Once that is done, the large prybar will work to get it out of the transmission. You don't need any heat
