I have searched for an answer for a day now and am just getting more frustrated so i figured its time to ask... I have a 98 eclipse gsx.. i did the head swap on it along with the intake and throttle body.. put a evoIII turbo on and put 550 injectors in.. problem is now the car cranks forever but won't fire.. its getting spark, timing is perfect, and its getting fuel to the fuel rail... but its not going through the injectrors. Pulled the injector plug off and tested it and its not getting the signal to "fire" (or whatever you want to call it) when cranking... any and all help would be greatly appreciated...

i am assuming that you are using a 1g CAS with the swap... are you sure you have it wired in correctly? tow wires crossed = no workie.... also did you change ignition and injectors wires when you did the head swap?

remove cas and fuel rail, put rags under injectors and rotate cas, you did check your MPI and make sure all plugs are connnected RIGGHHT.

yes.. they are supposed to be 4-1-2-3 right? and i figured i had the cas wrong so i already played with that and still didn't do anything...

With a 1998 car/ECU you shouldn't have to change the spark plug order. It sounds to me like you have the cam sensor wired wrong, as someone else suggested. Did you use an RRE adapter harness, or wire it yourself?

will try the spark plug suggestion today .. pretty much try anything now anyway LOL .. but i wired the cas.. but i am almost 100% sure its wired up right, but will go over it again and see if i can find anything... and yea.. the fuel injector itself was the first thing i tried and the stock ones don't do anything either

Switching the spark wires should work because after 97 the CAS is on the pas side of the engine which inverts the firing order from the 95 which is what the wiring diagram for the 1g CAS shows. I may be mistaking but I am pretty sure that is what it would be.

alright.. went and messed with it today for a bit and switched the plug wires around.. it pops like a backfire and then just cranks and cranks again.. but since it backfires that means it has to be getting fuel right? could the cas be bad? and will a 2g cas fit on a 1g head? i still have my 2g one and i know it was good, so it wouldn't be much to swap them back out if they fit .. btw, thanks for the help so far guys

Yes the later style 2Gen CAS will fit a 1gen head....at this point I would personaly make sure everything (ie: spark plug wires, CAS wiring, etc.) is installed per the swap instructions...if they are, a redneck check for a fuel problem would be to spray a small amount of carb and choke cleaner into the intake around the thorttle body, if it fires up for a second or two you know you have a fuel problem...crude method but its quick...if that fails, try to get the things as close to before the head swap as possible, if it ran before the head swap, only pay special attention to items you changed and re-check instrutions on what to change when doing the swap....as always KISS, keep it simple stupid...no pun intendid just remember to not over think the problem and always think about how various components work.....this may not help but its the basis for heavily modifying something that worked before the changes....

good call. i do tend to overthink things a lot so i might just go back over everything i did and double check it all...

maybe a dumb question but i got the 2g cas hooked back up for the time being.. teh firing order still the same correct?
