was wondering if it is possible to change the background light at night for autometer phantom guages (boost and oil pressure inparticuliar). Any help is appreciated. I am wondering b/c my guages are reverse indiglo and was wondering if the autometer phantom guages can be lit up in that color blue.

Put a blue LED in there, or get a blue bulb condom.

Are you sure the blue LED would work? i tried putting a light bulb cover on and it only made the white guage display less bright. If a blue bulb condom is necessary, where can i get such a thing and i have to assume it involves disecting the guage to remove the original white bulb condom. correct?

LEDs emit light, so yes it would work.

Bulb condoms can be had at AutoZone for next to nothing (usually in the ricer isle)...just slip them over the bulb. The bulb is accessed at the back of the gauge.

Problem with bulb condoms is they make the gauges harder to see.

Get some of those 6 LED bulbs.. Its about the same size as the normal bulb but its got 6 mini LED's in them.

Scroll down and find "WLED-x6 wedge base 194 type bulbs"

They come in white and blue...

I have a question relating to gauge lighting. I recently got a Gst and it has a boost gauge a autometer sport comp or something like that. It does not light up at night and was wondering if the gauge just does not come with a light or he hooked it up wrong.

Pull it out and look.

Ya, that would work but if someone new it had a light or not would be easier.
Having someone wipe your ass would make shitting easier as well.

To answer: It should have a place for a light, if not a bulb and socket already in there.

ok let's not get off track. And Lando, having someone wipe my ass would deffinitly speed up the sh*tting process. Any takers? :D

Anyway, my guages use the 161 bulb (my buddys do too, so i assumed all use the 161 bulb). So wouldn't i need to find a 161 LED blue bulb? do they make them? assuming they do, where would i hunt one down? keep in mind i've already scanned the local ricer section of every auto store in town. ;)

Have you done this? Do they fit? Isnt a 194 bulb bigger then the bulb that comes in the autometer gauge? Regardless I think im going to buy the bulbs anyways and if they dont fit Ill come up with something. I think I may even shoot for the 9 led :D

I just ordered the 9 led ones :D . Im pretty sure they wont fit... they might be like a mm too big or so. But I have a dremel for that. Ill be sure and make a post with pics when I get em in.

yo man, i have the phantom series gauges, and it has a bulb in the back. Its a 194, i put a red one in and it looks sick, so yeah it does work
