Alright, so i went to Import Face-Off today and decided to run my car a few times... I guess I ran one run too many. I heard clicking and I pulled into a jiffy lube and the guy told me that there was a flat spot on one of my cam shafts. On the way home, I think it might have snapped, but I haven't checked. I pushed my car the last few hundred feet when it shut off as i got off the highway  . This is the bad part... i'm only 17 and my parents still own the car and if they find out about it then I'm dead and I can basically kiss my DSM (my life) goodbye :sosad: . I pushed it into my driveway without them knowing, so they're still oblivious, but when they notice that I'm not driving it to school, I am screwed. Hopefully it hasn't damaged my engine, but I need to know where to get good cheap cams and I need them quick, like in the next couple days, so where should i go?

Well pull the valve cover off and check before anything. You can get a set of stock cams for 20 bucks or so.

Your best bet is to make sure that they are broken. If they are search around your area for a local dsm guy and see if he has a set of stockers laying around :thumb: .

Well... this sucks... I had a different person listen to the clicking noise and he says that he thinks I threw a rod :sosad: . If this is true, I have no idea what to do. Do I have to rebuild the engine? Should I do a 6-bolt swap? Will my parents let me live to see my DSM running normal another day? I am still kinda new, so I'm curious if this was caused by crankwalk? Hopefully, somebody can give me some good news... any at all. I need help... I am depressed  .

You could have threw a rod. I guess the only way to find out is to tear it apart. You parents obviously aren't gonna be happy but tell them that stuff happens. You dont have to tell them you went to the track. A 6 bolt swap isn't neccesary but if you want one and have the money they go for it, or you could build your 7 bolt.

Take the valve cover off before you do anything. It could just be lifter tick. If so, don't worry about it. If your cam is broken, pray you didn't introduce the valves to the pistons. But if they didn't get acquainted, don't worry about it. Stock cams are cheap. I have some 1g turbo ones, as a matter of fact. Slight upgrade for your 2g.

Well, I did take off the valve cover this morning and my friend and I think that everything looks good and the cams aren't damaged or worn at all... I'm afraid to start it again, let alone drive it. The engine shook like crazy this morning when I let it run and it had a subtle clicking that went along with each revolution. Yesterday, when I got off the highway and pulled up to a stop light, the engine started shaking and turned off. I freaked out and tried starting it and it had a whole lot of trouble and was making chaotic noises and shaking alot and it eventually shut off after about 100 ft and I had to push it the rest of the way to my house. I don't know enough to diagnose, so what do you guys think it could be, since it's obviously internal. And my other question is, Is this from racing, or was it kind of bound to happen?

Maybe you just blew off an intercooler coupler. That'd cause it to shutter and die and such. As far as bound to happen vs. racing, I don't rightly know. You'll have to figure out exactly what the problem is, and then I'll tell you.
