Cam pos sensor connector pigtail problems

Just rebuilt my motor, replaced basicaly every sensor known to man on the 420a including the cam pos sensor and when you purchase a new one you also have to purchase a pigtail for the new style connector.

Been having problems with the car just shuting off and setting a cam pos code and not restarting. I get out, play with the connector a little and she fires up and drives fine until the next time.

Just wondering if anyone else has had these problems?

did you check to make sure there is nothing in the connection? did you use Dielectric grease?

Yes and yes.

Only way to make it work is if i bend the metal nipples on the cam sensor and make a tight connection with the connector that way.

take it back and get a new one. there is no reason you should have to modify the connectors

Bingo. Ran into a few other problems so she will be down for a while anyways but i will be returning the cam pos sensor and pigtail to autozone asap. =)

Did you replace the sensor yet I recently bought one but haven't changed it out as of yet

Ended up going to mitsubishi and buying a connector from them, threw out the old one from autozone and havent had a problem since. Am still using the autozone sensor and havent had a problem. Yet.
