Cam installation

I like to do things on my own, and i wanted to know if installing cams on a 2G GS was hard? I have some experience with working on cars, but I never tried to replace cams. Can you just take out the old ones, and put the new ones in the same exact position?
If not, then what is necessary to change the cams?

Very basic tools are required, and it should take an afternoon.

it shouldnt even take an afternoon. and mostly everything you need to know is in the chiltons manual. pick up a copy of the chiltons manual from any local auto parts store, and rent a torque wrench as well. the cam gear bolts and many others have specific torque specs you should follow to prevent any breaking of the head internals.

now the procedure will vary a bit since he did ask about a GS but its about the same. as JDP said have a chiltons manual ready. Also the PNs listed will be incorrect (for certian tools and or replacement parts/ gaskets).
