The yokohama avs es100 are pretty nice. I had them on my previous car and I got very good traction with them. Tread didnt last to long but Im guessing that was from all the burning out I did with them. I also had a set of the ventus hr series tires which are sort of the same as the ones you are looking at. I liked them much more then the yokohamas. Better traction and longer lasting tread. Price wise I would def. go with thet hankooks.

I got some Khumo's. I don't know what model I have off the top of my head and I am too lazy to walk downstairs and check. I got them for about 75 each I think.

Anyways, I've hit 2.2's 60' times. So I guess they are ok!

I'll have the KDW-2s installed on Wednesday of this week, and I'll post my impressions here. I chose them over the Yokohamas for two reasons:

(1) Yokos are said to be a little 'slippery' at high speeds/high g-forces. They're said to have exceptional steering response and rock for street use, but they don't 'hold' speed well. They're not recommended for track usage, really. They're not 'bad' for it, but you're REALLY limiting what your car can do with 'cheap' tires.

(2) Tread life. The Yokos have horrible tread life. That's the main universal complaint. I consider the ~$20/tire for the upgrade to the KDW-2 to be MORE than worth it, considering you'll only have to buy two sets of these compared to 3+ sets of Yokos in the same time frame.

Also, I suggest strongly that if you're looking to save a few bucks with the ES100s, you should go with the Kuhmo KU19s instead. The KU19s are basically the ES100 with better tread life, and better 'hold' on corners. The reviews are very positive on tirerack, as well.

Final note: the tread on the KDW-2 is sweet as hell looking. ;) Icing on the cake. I vote KDW2--strongly.

hankoos ey has anyone else had them, experiences

I've taken a few autoX runs on Ventus. I'd put them down in the 712 range. Not in the same league as your other choices.

okk.. i got the tires...

I had to get the Hankook Ventus K104 because my tire popped(almost crashed on the highway) and i couldnt wait a week for new tires to come in. Soo i went with the hankooks. Here is a quick review..

The size of the k104 is 225/45/17.

I had the Bridgestone poteza before i got the k104's and i must say there is a huuuge difference. When i had the Bridgestones, i WOT in first gear and immediately it would start burning out and wheel hopping.. Now when i WOT it starts burning out only in the 5.5k-7K range, where with the potezas it would start burnig out at 3-3.5. Also when i lauch it now at around 3.5k it barely burns out...and there is no wheel hop, where with the potezas it would wheel hop like crazy. Tire noise is a little louder but not bad. Can hardly notice it when got used to it. Wet traction is great. I can actually launch it pretty good in the reain now.

Even though this tire is not that popular, I think this is a great Summer performance tire...The price was good too.. $94. Two Thumbs Up! :thumb: :thumb:
