BUying GST or GSX this Sunday.

Hey guys im finally after 6 years have the money to go pick up a dsm this weekend or next week. I have been researching these cars for years and feel like I have already owned 10 of them. Im a good mechanic but since im in college the budget will be tight for mods.. Prolly around 2000. My question is do i go with a GSX for the AWD and the sweet 60 ft times. Or since i will only have about 2000 to mod it in the first summer do I go with the GST due to the fact that the front gets 100% of the power and doesnt lose that 20% or so to the rear.. Some of you intense DSm guys give me your feedback with what you have seen out there.

So you haven't actually bought a car yet? If not, go GSX. You will like it better in the end. You can hookup alot better and they are a blast to drive.

Even though I have a GST I am going to have to say get a GSX...and you can do a lot with $2000 just spend it right..

Go AWD... I have FWD and decided to sell off all my mods so I can get an AWD. It's not worth it to end up paying 2 grand to half-way hook-up (lsd, tires, suspension). For some reason, I have a hard time trying to find someone to race from a roll anyway.

Put the extra money in and buy a spyder. You will never look back, wind blowing through your hair, and room for the 3 ladies you just picked up.

if you want higher freeway acceleration and easier ability to beat v8 cars on the freeway, get the fwd. if you drive around in town alot and play at stop lights, get the awd. fwd in town sucks...tires spin through 3rd. even worse when roads are even a little damp.
you can definitely feel the difference in drivetrain drag and weight between fwd and awd cars. i've had both.

Guess the reply screams.. GSX .. ill see what i can do.. I got a little pissed yesterday when i lost out on a red 5spd 1997 GSX for $5000 with 99K miles.. It kinda bashed my hopes but ill look for a good GSX.. If anyone knows one for sale outside of ebay/autotrader mesage me.. thanks

I've got a 92 TSi and I have driven both FWD and my AWD. I can tell you that the GSX is where you are going to want to be. It's better for overall drivability, you get better hookup (as previously stated) and it's just more fun in general.

Hey .. Thanks for all the input. I found a 95' Black GSX with 130,000 miles.. alot of miles but with a little tlc it will be rebuilt and be fine.. picked it up for $3500. Guy just bought a new car i think and really just wanted some cash.. Mint GSX for $3500= who cares bout 130,000 miles. But really thanks for the input im sure i will enjoy the AWD in the snow.
