Hey names brent, I'm looking at buying a 98 gsx.. it's pretty built up. I'm very new at all this. I have been searching for about 4 5 days... I've found out everything I can...
It has a 1st Gen 6 bolt block with 2g heads on it and than a 2.4 crank. H beam piston rods ( not sure what piston tops or if that matters. ) but they are shorter so compression is close to 8 to one or little higher. .. has bigger injectors I'll get specs on those if needed a different fuel pump can also get specs on that. It has the stock ecu but he told me that it can be tuned with a tactrix 2.0 I've looked it up but I don't know anything bout tuning so anything said didn't make a whole lot of sense.. the motor was in a different car but they flywheEl bolts kept backing out so it was sold and the guy I'm talking to now got the motor nd put it in the eclipse gsx. Please let me know what u think and if it's okay to get and if the stock ecu in the 98 eclipse can be tuned with tactrix 2.0. Please keep in mind I never heard of this car until 4 or 5 days ago. THANK YOU.!

Number one question to always ask the seller "Why are you selling the car". I would also get any receipts you can from the build to confirm everything done to it. If possible I would try to get a boost leak test and a compression test done before purchasing it. I also don't see any gauges from the interior picture you showed unless they are on the A pillar. I'd make sure it at least has a wideband gauge that would eliminate some concerns if it is at least running within decent air/fuel ratios. Also what about transmission and clutch is it all stock?

Other then that the car looks to be in good condition and the asking price isn't bad at all.

Looks in good condition. I say start it up and listen to it idle. Listen, see, and smell for anything out of place. That could be a wide band gauge on the "frog-eye" surround. I agree, ask the seller why he/she is selling. When I bought mine, it needed a couple small things-good wash and wax for one, battery hold down, and a better brake booster cap (old one kept coming loose). Obviously, inquire if there's been any maintenance done recently especially an oil change. I don't know much about Tactrix. Black box ECU maybe (someone else more familiar can chime in here). How many miles does she have??

Yeah ask the reason for selling ,and definitely test drive it and ask for any receipts maintenance records look under hood for anything looking worn out make sure it looks sanitary look under car for rust.

Everything looks nice, except for the price.

If the car has gauges and no Link, it'd be a no-go for me. That tells you right there that guy doesn't know DSMs.

Anyone who knows DSMs would have put Link on the car first before putting gauges next to the steering wheel.

^^^ Not always the case, if it is a black box ecu it can be tuned efficiently.
OP did the seller mention anything about the ecu being tuned for the larger injectors it currently has?
It seems pretty clean by the pictures but it's hard to know if it's worth the asking price without a build list/sheet, that part is on you:)
